It goes without saying that, when seeking any form of therapy, you should feel comfortable with your therapist and feel that they understand you and want to help you to the best of their ability.

Clients ask for counselling for a variety of reasons. It may be to work through a current situation, like grief, or loss of some sort, parenting issues or relationship problems. Others find that, although they have a current issue to deal with, there are many past experiences that have influenced them to behave and think in ways that are not helpful to them, and they desire to change this situation.

There are those who are seeking direction and, although I cannot (and would not) tell them what to do, I can help them to find the answers within themselves and encourage them to follow their inner guide.

When a client comes for counselling I will use the techniques best suited to achieve the goal we are seeking. This may include EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Hypnotherapy, NLP, or even energy healing. It all depends on what the client is comfortable with, and what I intuitively feel is needed.

In some cases we find it helpful to discover the source of the problem, i.e. regression therapy, as this often leads to a more effective and permanent healing. However there are cases where it is not necessary to go digging in the past at all, and issues can be dealt with purely on a behavioural and cognitive level. It certainly helps just to have somebody to talk to in a confidential and safe setting, where there is no judgement made, only a desire to see you as the person you want to be.

The role of the Transpersonal Therapist is to help the client to extend self by finding the true inner teacher, and then help them to bring that awareness into their lives.

The therapist does not need to be some sort of superbeing. The observation is made by Jung, Ram Daas and others that a psychotherapist cannot take someone beyond where they have been. However it is possible for the therapist and client to break new ground together if both are willing to learn from each other.
